When you let government take control, they use it. In very stupid ways.

It's pretty funny. Have to wonder how true it is, though. Dailymail is not really much a step above Weekly World News.

Ven, the 2nd thing, while dumb to go to court, isn't that terrible, I mean the punishment was not to go on a school trip, no with no further info on that, for all we know it could have been a missed educational experience. If so, then maybe a bit unfair, but generally the court should stay out, yes.

Yes, it is.
If a child can take you to court for grounding them and the Judge sides with them. That is a bad thing. This should not have even made it to a judge.
The governmental intrusion is bad enough. The social ramification's of something like this are just as bad. (if this stands)
If someone can't see this then there is something seriously wrong with them.
If a Judge told me I couldn't ground my child from taking a school trip I would tell them to **** off.

You misunderstand, I in know way support using courts to break the chain of parental control, and change punishment, but I have to say, being prohibited from a school trip was actually fairly wrong

Well, missing a school trip can cause more work for the child, and can be a missed learning experience. Again, though, I don't support the overturning, I just don't support the potential effects of the original punishment.

Surveillance of Skype messages found in China
http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/10/02/technology/02skype.php
The discovery draws more attention to the Chinese government's Internet monitoring and filtering efforts, which created controversy this summer during the Beijing Olympics. Researchers in China have estimated that 30,000 or more "Internet police" monitor online traffic, Web sites and blogs for political and other offending content in what is called the Golden Shield Project or the Great Firewall of China.
