Found this online, Adam Sessler was on NPR as a guest about GTA (http://www.npr.org/blogs/talk/2008/05/gtaiv_on_botn.html) and they also got Jack Thompson, which was fun. Hearing him talk, his points, it was sad how misinformed he really was, and the show host seemed to have no idea and listened more to him then his official guest Adam Sessler(who I like, and respect, and is none the less a real game specialist) and he shot down all defenses of Adam's.

Also, Thompson says he'll pursue Take 2 for putting porn and violence int he hands of minors, but names no agency aid. Aside from the fact that most should think he's crazy, the fact is there is barely any porn, and as Adam says, it is not at all the most violent, plus the M rating means it is not meant for the kids they are 'poisoning' and is illegal to be sold to them so he can take that up with GameStop or whatever....I don;t want to rant on the whole interview before you guys hear it, so I'll hold there. Also, sadly you need Real Player, as if anyone uses it, to listen.

So, which tool got owned in this arguement?

Adam got owned as of course, first of all his position and knowledge holds some ground, but then of course there is the fact that the media has to blow things out of proportion, or force the negativity out so they started on the negative views, then Jack got in and they listened to his crap, and shut down Adam when he tried to defend them.

Frankly it pisses me off because I like Adam, and I generally have true respect for NPR

i listened to this and i was actually appalled by the lack of involvement that Adam was allowed. At one point Adam was jumping in to talk and was forced to back down so that Thompson could throw his lack of an informed opinion at the host. its rated M for a reason. if parents really want to complain then they should really be spending more time with their kids and seeing what they are actually doing, both in the games they play and what they spend their time doing. if anyone is to blame over the "poisoning" of children's minds, its people like Mr. Thompson who take up a cause and pick the most public figure for their crusade rather than addressing the real problem behind the issue.

Exactly as I felt, the host shut him down, him the official guest and specialist, while he let the man, who somehow has a law degree, talk because he feels he's more informed and important. Adam also seemed to get led into having to admit the clear moral faults of the game, though they are not the most important or prevalent facts.

I'm sure everyone will agree with me, but this violent game issue is the same as porn magazines. There's laws against selling them to minors and that isn't their intent. If they are sold to minors, that's the store's fault, not the printer/developer.
