Is. Amazing.
I just escaped the cops by driving off an overpass, clearing a building, while doing a barrel roll. I landed and crumped the front end so bad I had to take off on foot because the car wouldn't start.
This thread is going to be FULL of win when we start sharing war stories.
And I got the "Warm Coffee" achievement right away for having sex with Michelle. I laughed for a solid minute.

There is an Achievement if you complete the main storyline in 30 hours. So, wondering if I should DO that and when/if one can play after the credits, go for the other stuff? Or do I have to start a New Game for that? Thoughts? Opinions?
If so, afterwards would be good to go for date achievements and exploring/gather achievements.

Exactly. This is what I would do, too. If I played the game in a natural way. Don't like running through content.
And this is, of course, another BIG BLACK MARK AGAINST Achievements. :/

I dont mind getting an achievement, but any achievement that is so far out of what it is i want to do i just ignore it. Theres no prizes for them, so why change how you want to play just to get them? If the game is so good you could always try to run through it again in under 30 hours if you wanted the achievement.

I like Achievements, they give me something to do other than just what I'm supposed to. Anywho, When Chasing Vlad, I got lost and wound up on above him, so I drove the car off of the ledge, fell about 5 stories landed on the engine, and continued to chase. Oh, and the first time I hit a pole and flew out of the windshield I laughed hystericly.

I've been so absorbed with this, been playing almost any time I've been out of school. Its so beautifully gritty, and full and so much to do. Only thing stopping me sometimes is I don't want to get caught, I mean I got it at midnight(without letting anyone know I was going to get it) and no one in my family knows I have it, I mean I could convince parents maybe, but I gotta hide it from my brother because then he'll want to play and both get me in trouble, use more of the time, and play it, which I can't have....
Anyways, that's enough ranting, any good stories from in game happenings?
I got a good one, I was driving around and saw a stairwell thing that went under a bridge big enough for a car and drove up it...somehow giving me 6 stars halfway through but whatever, and I get to the other end and the stairs go down, but its underground with an overhang, so I get launched into the tunnel through the window and the car rolls into me :D
Also, if anyone wants to know there's an easy way to get a helicopter if you can get to the highway thats parallel to the airport. There is a part of the overpass that you go on and pass the helicopter on a landing pad next to you and the roof/helipad area has a corner almost under the overpass so you can get out and jump over and get one of the gunships.

That's the key -- if you can't avoid getting busted, just shoot an RPG at close range and blow yourself up -- everytime you leave the hospital you keep your guns. You only lose them if you get busted.

The new mechanic of no loading when entering/leaving a building opens so many new options.
For example, yesterday i was at one of the various safe houses armed to the teeth with guns, and decided to cause some trouble....30 or so seconds later im at 5 stars and run up a bit into the house where there was some cover and the front door was easily visible. Was there for about 20 minutes popping shotgun blasts in fuzz faces which led to a huge pile up of cop bodies at the frontdoor :D

Decided to start working on the single-player version finally. I am gonna try to do it under 30 hours, per the Damnable Achievement! The thing is, I did go out on one date and I may have to do Little Jacob's missions, just so I can get a discount on rolling arsenal. Also, I did try for the "6 star Wanted for 5 minutes" and received it, but tried to be economical about my time (Loading and restarting).
Hopefully I can do it. Like Kurai, shouldn't take too long. What was your time, Kurai? Did you do everything or didn't care to match the 30 hour limit?

Yeah, I agree, I've come to enjoy it. I mean, it takes a bit of getting used to, and early on you hardly need to use the cover, but after you leave Broker it's on. I also like how much easier it is to get into the free look mode. So i got the game yesterday at the start of my day off. I played it for the next 10-12 hours before it was bed time. I must say I had fun. So far it seems to be quite good. Not sure if its 10/10 good, but ive yet to really have a complaint. Same time really havent had to many moments blow me away. So far havent had much reason to go away from the main story line. I got like 15k in cash with nothing to spend it on. Every girl on the online dating thing has said no, so ive only been able to date Michelle.
That being said, the story so far is Freaking Awesome. Loving every minute of it. This game lives up to its cinematic hype.
I did spend the last hour or two trying to do some fun things. I recently unlocked the part of the city that has Middle Park on it. Havent got to explore it very much, but its pretty cool. I spent like 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get up on top of one of the skyscrapers and couldnt find a way. I then decided to try and hit up the airport and maybe hijack a helicopter, no such luck. There werent any I could find and every time id get a bunch of stars for being on the runway. Then i found this big tower that was so high up the helicopter had trouble getting at me. I was able to snipe people to my hearts content. Every now and then id have to turn and lite up some cops that had managed to climb the whole way up. Was good fun.
Probably the most fun I had was when i decided to swim over to the 3rd main island. Half way across the 6 stars light up and I start getting shot out. Somehow I made it out of the water on to the docks. Lucky for me the initial wave of cops was all water based, so I made it a decent way across the docks before the cop cars started showing up. Lucky for me at the same time I found a Big Rig and went on a joy ride. I say i survived for probably 15 minutes getting shot at the whole time, just barreling through everything in my way. Eventually they got the best of me though and the truck blew up as I was trying to escape it. I rolled out as soon as I saw the flames, but with the height of the fall and all the other factors i wasnt able to get up and run. The truck blew up, taking me and like 19 cops with it. Good good fun!!
I cant way to try the 16 player free for all. Should be great fun!!

Then there was accident where I was going the wrong way down and exit ramp and the cops couldn't get me behind the bus and kept stacking up at the bottom of the hill. Way to much on strippers, way to many dates with Michelle, to much pool, and death from above, and 23000 spent on ammo alone.

Well, the only thing I ever found to spend money on was health care and ammo. There is really nothing at all to buy (that i could find) unlike the other GTA's, one of the few failings of GTA4.
I beat the game last night at the 34 hour mark with 66% of the game completed. I was surprised there werent more 6 star moments (admittedly that would be nearly impossible to escape from). I had good fun with the game and actually kept playing after I beat it (which is strange for me).

Then we should definitely meet up, so I can kill you. :D
Seriously though, since I beat the game, I've been playing it online, but I never saw any of you on. Are you all busy with I12 and AoC?

Wow I just realized something...
I've been playing this game since like 2 days after it came out...and I'm still in Bohan. I have like 2000 dollars and all my friends and people I know who play it have beaten it...and yet, I'm still in Bohan...so I've came to this conclusion...
I suck at this game...
but I still love it

Actually. I am pretty far along in the game, but I haven't finished it. I have like 10 hours to finish it on the "30 hours" achievement; I put the game down and pondered my plan of attack, but a bit worried I might not make it. :/
Yeah, these type of achievements suck. :P
As for online, I did that when the game first came out, more than the actual game, but I will come back to it. There are still some achievements I need and some Gurus could help out. :)
But yeah, a bit of I12, a bit of AoC, a bit of RL has taken me away from the "fair" streets of Liberty City. I would break out into a song about it, but there is no way to replace the words "New York City" in a song about the Big Apple with the words "Liberty City" and make it sound good. :p

I actually just beat it and it sucks to have gotten Kate killed but it is nice to know I'm done, but I will miss to have a story to fall back on. I want the downloadable content

I've done both endings (Yay for saves right before the big choice?) And Both endings are kind of sad. Roman Dies (And Kate won't speak to you anymore) if you go the Money Route, and Kate dies if you go the revenge route. You can't win.
Oh, and I'm going to have to pick up the 360 Version when I finally get my 360 fixed.

Not much further man, I keep getting distracted...and killing cops and getting shot....a lot. I've spent 30k on ammo and about that on hostpitals.

The Naked Gun, GTA Style! (http://www.gamesradar.com/video/ext/v-2008060611222593060)
Still don't have the game yet myself, too much stuff I wanna play and not enough money. I just want to get it so I can run around New York City and not worry about getting arrested for hijacking a helicopter to view the scenery. :p

People in this city can't drive
no.. no they can't... when you can't go three blocks without the NPC's hitting a pedestrian and blocking the intersections... and everyone ignoring what color the traffic lights are...
I started out driving all paranoidly nice, flow of traffic ect... then realised that the cops don't give a fuck about traffic accidents. (heck most of the time they don't care about me jacking their ride as long as other cops don't see it.)
I'm akamaz11 on windows live so go ahead and friend me. i'm having fun with the free zone multiplayer, but need more friends to play the other game modes with.

today i got caught in a reverse carjack... sweet low rider convertible, so i figured I was tired of my beat up mustang, and wanted a new ride... I jacked the driver, and started to drive off, the (chick) driver ran alongside the car, opened the door and pulled me from the vehicle...
it was epic. a true WTF moment.

Damn pedestrians... I lost my limo today in a shootout with the cops because a pedestrian stepped out as i was backing my limo up, when a cop shows up.
I will say that i never need to worry about finding a car though. I just wish that there was more that you could do to make cash off of the cars at the start of the game
