View Full Version : Invulnerability Effects

Has anyone had any success reducing or eliminating the invulnerability effects? I would love to just remove them entirely. If anyone is aware of what textures are the culprits that would help a great deal. Although I have a sneaky suspicion that these effects are used for more than just Invulnerability.

IMHO the worst offender is the Unyielding "ring-around-the-tank" effect.

Suggestions or comments are welcome.

Or Unstoppable. It looks like the sun is shining from, well... where the sun don't shine.

I'm pretty sure I got rid of it once on accident while trying to mod a scrapper fx for a friend.

If you can get me an SS of both FX(seperate pics, not both powers on in same shot) in action I could whip it up for ya right quick. All the armor FX use similar graphics so helps to see which one it is exactly via in game. However invulnerable is one of the powersets I've never used on a char, so will save me time if I can see the powers this way. Rather than run around looking for an invuln guy myself.

Just to say - once this had been installed, would it be possible to get rid of it again?

Because if you're fighting someone in the Arena, you want to know if you've dropped someone's toggles and what powers they have activated :).

you'd need to remove the modified fx textures out of your override folder, and restart the client, but other than that yes it's very easy to swap in/out mods

So you could do this? If so I'll get pics of as many of the toggles for Invul as possible - I have all the shiny ass clickies except unstoppable so someone else may need to post that one.

Go for it, I use a que system will ALL requests though. Also I do requests inbetween working on my game. Though as other posts can show I still dedicate a large portion of time to modding when need be.

Get me the pics I'll add it to the que, aint long right now.

Hey,

I've been interested in modifying the Invuln effects for a long time. IMO, they are too bright (especially on dark, indoor maps) and I'd like to see them toned down a bit or replaced with something similar to Intel_Inside's regen mod.

What can I do to help get Invuln into your mod queue? I can post screenshots if you like and will do so tonight from home.

Thanks
Slank

I've put it on my list, and it's ready to be worked on whenever I get some screenies, could have it done late tonight, depending on how some things go IRL

Unyeilding - Invincibility - Temp. Invulnerability

I don't have unstoppable so I can't provide a pic of that - sorry!

all too easy, should have mods up late tonight, or very early tomorrow

some of those files I know by heart, having now seen the fx

The deed is done. Kept some parts, removed others. Full explaination and what was changed can be found on my forums. In short, I wanted to keep some graphics so there was an FX indication the power is on. Aside from looking at the hotkey bar.

Just Temp Invulnerability on

Wow. That's frickin' beautiful. Thanks. You've spared me a bright lights headache and made my invuln scrapper enjoyable again :)

Hm... I extracted it to my city of heroes folder - but it hasn't worked. The glows are still present. Am I doing something wrong here?

Sure you installed correctly? Just tested them again myself and they were working. There will still be a briefly green glow followed by 2 white body circles expanding over you then fading, while turning on. Other than that there shouldn't be any full aura.

Full install paths just in case
Data/texture_library/FX/FX_RainBowRing.texture
Data/texture_library/FX/SUPER_POWERS/RainbowGlow.texture
Data/texture_library/FX/SUPER_POWERS/RainbowGlow2.texture
Data/texture_library/FX/SUPER_POWERS/SharpStar.texture
Data/texture_library/FX/SUPER_POWERS/InvulnerabilityRing/CouldRing.texture

Hm, depends what you mean by 'install' - I just extracted the zip file to
c:\Local Disk\Program Files\City of Heroes

That must be my problem too. So i create the "Data" folder then? I don't see one in there already.

Akurei

yes sry I didn't pack it in data folder, I'm used to my users already having one

If you don't have a Data folder in your CoH folder, make one. Then unzip the mod into the Data folder.

Thanks Akurei. :)

Works perfectly.

Glad you were able to get it working. I've added a comment next to the download link now explaining that you need the data folder. For future reference all my mods expect there to already be a Data folder.

Could somebody please do me a favour and create a mod that mods out ALL the animations in relation to the Invulnerability toggles? The mod that was made was fantastic, but it's still not really right for a character who's meant to be entirely natural.

Thanks very much to anyone who does this :)

I would have the same request as Charon about Invulnerability, and also Concealment. When I have Unyielding, Invincibility and Stealth on, my framerate drops significantly and it can be annoying: my character is much slower than when those powers aren't on.

Thank you for considering this request :)

long as were talking tanking mods is it possible to completely get rid of the glowy hands the energy tankers use as well please?
