In case you can't tell, I *love* music. All kinds. When people ask what kind of music I like, my answer is always "good music," because I have favorite songs and artists in all genres.

I'd be interested in hearing your recommendations on what music I should be on the lookout for to add to my collection. Like I said, I listen to all genres, from rock to rap to punk to musical theatre to country to classical to jazz to choral to...(infinity)

So, yeah. I've kind of been using the "What are you listening to?" thread as a guide, but I'd like to get some recommendations from you here. Imagine I'm over at your place and you're showing me your CD collection/mp3 files. What would you point out/recommend? You can recommend specific songs or individual artists. I'll be sure to check them out double-quick! :)

Oh man, if you came to see my music, you could just forget the rest of the day. I love making people listen to my music collection!
Case in point, my stepdad recently asked me to change a couple of songs in the album he listens to on the road. I ended up giving him three whole new mix cds. :chuckle:

I was recently highly impressed by the works made by Crystal Method. Some are better than others, but you can really find masterpieces among them.

Other than that, Bjork, Daft Punkk (though that could be a gamble), Faithless, Fatboy Slim, and Linkin Park are all worth listening too.
You could also try Muse. The main vocalist is very talented, but sometimes it seems like he was trying to hide it. :P
And you already know about Prodigy and RAtM.

I usually dont hold onto specific bands and ive got little bit of everything on my list, like you, i guess.

Shel, will you marry me?
Will I!

Those are *all* favorite artists of mine. :)

xoxoxo

Are there specific tunes I should look for?

From Crystal Method, i really liked "Born Too Slow" a song thanks to which i learned about them, "Busy Child (club mix)", "Blowout" which is a little slow but gets better after the first half, "Name of the Game" but that might just be because of Splinter Cell :p, and "The Matrix Theme" that made me cry more than once (dont tell anyone).

From Bjork, my all time favorite is "Human Behavior", the beat is superb and her delicate voice that contrasts with its industriality, so to speak, well, it just gives a remarkable effect.

From Daft Punkk, i really appreciate "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", where the vocal used as an electric guitar is a pretty impressive and an original idea. Even though the first part is a bit slow, it accelerates and becomes really cool in the second half. "Aerodynamic" is a bit monotonnous but it has a very nice beat.
And a word of warning, dont listen to "Technologic", because it will not, i repeat, will not leave your head. Ever.

From Faithless, i liked "Insomnia", "We Come One" and "Muhammed Ali". Mostly for the lyrics. But the way Maxi sings them is also very original, im sure you know what i mean. By the way, did you know the guy actually has a day job at an office?

From Muse, i recommend you check out "Hypermusic", one of their most violent songs (but not that violent). But just so you know, the first time i heard it, i didnt really like it. It takes a bit of getting used to, now its one of my fav songs. "Newborn" is pretty good too, it has this twisted fairy tale feel to it.
Its been a while since i last listened to the album, but if i remember well, "Screenager" and "Mirco Cuts" were quite decent as well.

And now, for my favorite song for the last few months:
Linkin Park - In the End (Remix)
Just like that, no "techno remix", or "rap remix". I have the mp3 from a friend, so i cant say much more about the name, other than the filename (which is the above).
Its just amazing. Very unlike anything you could expect from Linkin Park, OR a remix. :D
I dont want to spoil it too much. But i can tell you, if there was only one song i could recommend you, this would be the one.

As for other Linkin Park songs, i usually prefer the hip-hop ones over those where Chester (the blond guy) takes the main part.
So that would mean "Hit the Floor", "Lying from You", and "Nobody's Listening" with a nice native american touch :)

Now that im looking at my mp3 folder, i could also recommend "Nobody" by Skindred, "Path" by Apocaliptica (feat. Sandra Nasic from Guano Apes), "Rock is Dead" by Marylin Manson, as well as "Teardrop" by Massive Attack, "Furious Angels" by Rob Dougan, and "The Bittersweed Symphony" by The Verve

Wow, that turned out pretty long... :)

Well if you all didn't know by now I am a huge fan of Clutch(look at the sig) so its easy for me to recomend them. Now if I were to get more specific I would say there last album "Blast Tryant" would be the place to start.

Trust me you will get no better Blues, Jazz, Gosple, Led Zeplin , ect., Influanced hard Rock out there. Neil Fallon's lyrics are the stuff of legend. (again the sig) He will bellow out those lyrics in mind bending tounge twisting ways.... I cannot say enough good things about them. I will have a Joygasm when there new one "Robot hive/Exodus" comes out June 21st.

Big News 1
The fog is rolling in,
The tide is high.
Diane's as fat can be,
Aye, Captain, aye.

The guests seem more than pleased,
How is the wine?
We shall be underway
On the by and by.

Ahead one third
Ahead two thirds
Full ahead flank
And out from the belly of the whale came a prophet
Amen.

Go shoot the moon, the sun,
The Great Divide.
I believe there's a storm a' brewin',
Nine crows at nine o'clock nigh.

Dutch man at the mizzenmast,
Six harpies are singin' to the lee,
I believe she's going down,
I believe were gonna die die die!

Fortune tellers make a killing nowadays,
Me, oh my,
Howdy Doody's past the house of Aquarius,
Bring me more whiskey and rye.

Big news from the party boat

Oh sir, do not distress
The food is fine.
Oh, but i must confess
I do find the wine a wee bit dry.

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rye.
Drink and the devil had done for the rest'
She's sunk full fathom, five five five!

Fortune tellers make a killing nowadays,
Me, oh my,
Howdy Doody's past the house of Aquarius,
Bring me more whiskey and rye.

Big news from the party boat

Them bones, them bones, them dry, dry bones,
Come down to the locker of Davy Jones

BIG NEWS II

Yeah

Can't funk with the feel
Or with the other three
This mother load
Comin' atcha, all 3D's

We got big news
The party boat is here
The band is kicking
And I see lots of beer

And I believe there is gambling
On the deck just below from here

We got Greedo
Solo to the rear
They know the deal
Sacks packed and stacked with

Pieces of eight
A sailor's life for me
Live free or die
Never look a bounty hunter in the eye
Damn

Now where were we?

I think aces high
Sleeves are rolled
Tremendous diamonds
And a mouth of gold

I spent many years a rambling
I'll never change these foolish ways
'Cause fortune tellers make a killing nowadays
Best keep living like a castaway
With my sack packed

Pieces of eight
A sailor's life for me
Live free or die
Never look a merman in the eye
Damn

Me thinks ye have Parental Music Syndrome in which your parents play their favorite kind of music in the car for years and you start to pick out favorites and eventually come to like it.

Man, I actually have a lot in common with all of your music taste. Daft Punk, Gorillaz, Linkin Park, Crystal Method, Goo Goo Dolls etc.

Anyway since I'm on my big Brit (Mostly Pop) craze, I can only recommend Blur, Radiohead, Gorillaz and Arctic Monkeys.

From Blur, I'm currently listening to (and I just know I'll be stealing Charon's Post :D) "Tender", "Stereotypes", "Charmless Man" and "Country House". Blur is mainly happier (or atleast disguised sad) music.

From Radiohead it's currently: "Just", "Creep", "Inside my Head", "Exit Music (For a Film)", "Talk Show Host" and "Karma Police". A lot of this is just depressing music, which is great, if you're in that mood.

Songs from Gorillaz I'm currently listening to is "19-2000", "Tomorrow Comes Today" and "Feel Good Inc.". A lot happier music, than the previously mentioned.

And finally Arctic Monkeys (www.ilovethesheriff.com/arcticmonkeys.html), which is a more unknown band than the previous. That's just most of their songs like "Still Take You Home", "Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor", "Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts", "Scummy", "Mardy Bum", "Fake Tales of San Francisco" and "A Certain Romance."

Just to throw in a couple misc ones, "Blue Orchid" by White Stripes, "Some Might Say" by Oasis", "Snake Tongued Beast" and "Day after Tomorrow" by Saybia and "Change my Mind" by Blueskins.

I think you would really enjoy George Michael's efforts on his latest album, "Patience". It has a rather eclectic mix of styles, from Brazillian Folk to 90s Techno. Very different from his previous albums. I don't hesitate to say it's his best work yet. From that album, my favourite songs are "Cars and Trains" and "Flawless".

I love anything by David Bowie, it's some kind of addiction. But I'm sure you have all of his best songs already. His more recent albums, "Heathen" and "Reality", are often overlooked. But the songs "I Would Be Your Slave" and "Cactus" from Heathen are very powerful. "New Killer Star", "Looking For Water," "She'll Drive the Big Car" and "Pablo Picasso" (which is a cover of a punk song, of all things) from Reality are great.

If you don't have it already, get "Disarm" by The Smashing Pumpkins. It's their best song. Ever.

If The Dead Kennedys are your bag, try out "Holiday in Cambodia".

I am also addicted to anything by Yann Tiersen. His scores for "Goodbye Lenin!" and "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulin" are fantastic.

God damn it man!!

Anyway, yes, I am here to bestow Brit Pop/Indie upon you.

Firstly, I echo everything Solario just said, but I'll add to it just for kicks.

Arctic Monkeys - You have the link, so download them all! They're absolutely fantastic.

Blur - if you like the Gorillaz, which Xeilos just suggested, they have the same lead singer. Well mostly. Not that that necessarily means you'll like both, they have some pretty different music. And Blur's is ALOT better. ;). Anyway -

Blur - Best Days
Blur - Stereotypes
Blur - Top Man
Blur - Tender
Blur - Charmless Man
Blur - Beetlebum
Blur - Tender
Blur - The Universal
Blur - Coffee and TV
Blur - Girls and Boys
Blur - Parklife
Blur - Song 2 (Everyone's heard this. EVERYONE.)
Blur - Globe Alone

Oasis - Secondly, You gotta love Oasis.

Oasis - Half the World Away
Oasis - Wonderwall
Oasis - Some Might Say
Oasis - Hey Now!

Pulp - Best thing ever, bassically. 'Nuff said.

Pulp - Common People
Pulp - Disco 2000
Pulp - I Spy
Pulp - Sorted for E's and Whizz

The Libertines - The best thing since sliced bread. If sliced bread took drugs, had a scrape with the police on an armed robbery charge, and beat up someone attempting to make a documentary about them.

The Libertines - What Became of the Likely Lads (One of my favourite songs ever.)
The Libertines - What Katie Did
The Libertines - Time for Heroes
The Libertines - The Good Old Days
The Libertines - What a Waster (Not for the easily offended by cuss words, I guess.)
The Libertines - Can't Stand Me Now
The Libertines - I Get Along

Radiohead - Yes, amazingly depressing. But then, I've been amazingly depressed, so it works.

Radiohead - Creep
Radiohead - Exit Music
Radiohead - No Suprises (Another of my all time favourite songs.)
Radiohead - Karma Police
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
Radiohead - Lucky
Radiohead - Let Down
Radiohead - Talkshow Host
Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out)

Supergrass - Do alot of good stuff, but I'm only suggesting one song here cause it's a MUST have.

Supergrass - We're Alright

Keane - Very, very good indie music. Unfortunately, they seem to have neglected to include a guitar and the piano can grow annoying occasionally but they're still VERY good.

Keane - Somewhere Only We Know
Keane - Bend and Break
Keane - This is the Last Time

The Kinks - Like, Brit Pop from the 60s, I guess... Haha.

The Kinks - You Really Got Me
The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon

Stone Roses - Pretty good, are the stone roses. I'll only suggest one song though since I've only found one I really like.

Stone Roses - She Bangs the Drum

Manic Street Preachers - Another one I'll only suggest one for.

Manic Street Preachers - The Love of Richard Nixon

And just to wonder away from brit pop, a few other good songs I'd suggest:

The Killers - Mr. Brightside
The Killers - Somebody Told Me
The Killers - All These Things That I've Done
The Strokes - Last Night

And I think I'll stop there, haha. Hope you like Brit Pop, indie and such....

Oh, I would like to add a couple for ya.

System of a Down is always good, in my opinion. Their newest single is BYOB, something you should definitely check out for rock.

Wait, was I right in the impression that NIRVANA HAS NOT BEEN SUGGESTED YET? I'm ashamed of you people. ;)

Chevelle is a great band, try Closure and The Red specifically.

Cradle of Filth's cover on Hallowed be Thy Name, but you probably already know this from me and Widdy's conversation. :p

Also good to try The Killers, I don't think anyone mentioned them, either.

Evanescence- one of the best vocalists out there, and a damn great rock band.

Gotta at least have ONE Disturbed song in your playlist at all times. ;)

Thanks, Mahaf, I have lots of SOAD. I love them! :D I also have a *ton* of Killers. I'm ready to keep them all in my closet as my personal music slaves, I love their stuff so much. :)

As to Disturbed, I love their music, but the lyrics really bother me on some songs... that one where he's like, "No mommy, don't hit me again," or whatever--I have to skip over that part, for example. People usually give me the eye when I express my distress over their lyrics and say, "Ally... the band *is* called Disturbed, you know."

Heh. Why can't they be called "Compassionate" or something? ;)

Anyway, I am thoroughly enjoying these suggestions. I very much appreciate them. <goes to the *ahem!* "music store" to check them out>

Pssh. That's not too old. Wait until you talk about technology that's 20 years old being "new" like my dad, THEN you're old.

No, nothing wrong at all. Without them, we wouldn't have awesome bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd (back before they became a cover band of themselves).

However, why did you end that sentance with a headbanging metal-head?

I am a city girl, but I don't like very large cities, particularly. In another year I will get to move back to my city that I *love*, but Stan, if you're in St. Louis you live in a larger city than the one I'll be moving back to! ;)

For context, I've lived in:

Sacramento, CA; Salem, OR; Denver, CO; Stevens Point, WI; Portland, OR; Washington, D.C; Frederick, MD; Minneapolis, MN; Paris, France; and two other small towns (population <10k) in the midwest which I shall not mention since they'll give too much information about where I live. :) And the city that I'll move back to in a year, which shall also remain nameless, but is definitely smaller than St. Louis.

Uh... so, music? Pink Floyd? Gee, I've never heard of them. Are they any good? (Please take another look at my birthdate. Sheesh!)

Your turn! I always wanted to get some sources on japanese music!

So far, all i have is music from animes, like Song of Four Seasons, from Samurai Champloo; The Ghost in the Shell theme; and The Teen Titans Theme in Japanese...

Pretty limited, huh? :p
So, could you give us some names of good Japanese punk bands? Also, do you know of any Japanese jazz?

Its ALIVE!!!

Anyway, my music library has changed a lot since i last posted here, and i thought i might share some new stuff i've gotten. :)
So without further ado, here we go:

I already mentioned Skindred's "Nobody" in my previous post, but only briefly, and i really believe it deserves more than that. It's a mix of hip hop and hard rock, which isnt so uncommon these days, however this particular band has a rather original vocalist. A voice that you would usually hear in the Regge circles, to be more specific. The lyrics arent anything special, basically along the lines of "look at us rock the house", but as much as it usually bothers me, here, it doesnt. And a Regge voice is a surprisingly good mix with rock. Definitely worth checking out.

Basement Jaxx is a somewhat underground-y funk band and their songs grossly vary in quality. Some are really good, while others, well, arent.
However, i can say that "Red Alert" is one of their best works. Its a pretty happy song. Great for parties.

Dispatch is sort of a rock band with hippy infliences, but they really play a wide range of music. "The General" is one of my favorite songs that they made, mostly because of the beautiful story it transmits. It's about a wise general with a good heart, who one day realized how much suffering he causes by participating in a war. I dont want to spoil it too much, but its really a beatiful story.
Its the sort of song you could hear someone sing by the fire on camping. It's really good. I highly recommend it.

Godsmack, now here's a band you cant mess with. Its like Metallica, but much, much better (at least in my opinion). Seriously, they really know what theyre doing. My favorite song they made is "I Stand Alone", with "Blood In My Eyes" on a close second. If you havent heard of them before (which i frankly doubt), you really should check them out.

Mars Volta is a band i recently discovered and i have to say, some of their stuff is pretty impressive. Certain people say theyre trying to appeal to general public too much, but it doesnt bother me. In fact, i find that some of their songs are similar to those of Muse. Not all of the stuff they make is good, but its worth it to keep an eye on them. In the meantime, i recommend "Inertiatic Esp", a very energetic rock song that will surely wake you up! :)

Im sure youve heard of Offspring, a popular punk-metal band that was at its peak around the year 1995. In my humble opinion, Americana is one of their best albums, from which i recommend songs such as "Staring at the Sun", "End of the Line" and, of course, "Americana", that gave the album its name. The sad thing about Offspring is that usually only their mediocre songs get turned into videoclips and it gives them bad publicity...

I dont know if youre into Hip-Hop, but if you are, you might find Grammatik interesting. Its a Polish Hip-Hop band. Thats right, Polish.
Perhaps it wont be much more than a curiosity, but i think you might be surprised to see how much it differs from the American one. A song i would specifically recommend is called "Pamietam", meaning "i remember". Its about the artists' childhood friends, and how sad it is that they turned towards the life of crime. Polish Hip-Hop is the music of the streets, but it usually condemns breaking the law end encourages the listeners to work on themselves and improve themselves as human beings. Very much unlike the whole "bling bling" thing they've got going on around here.

You probably know this one as well, but ill just mention it in case you dont. What i want to talk about is Pat Metheny's "Cafe del Mar". Its a very calm and soothing song. It sounds like rain falling on a window-still. Very beautiful.

Sade is another provider of good music. :)
From her songs, i would recommend "King of Sorrow". It has a few glitches here and there, but overall its a great song. Other than that, obviously, "Smooth Operator", probably the most popular song she ever made. On a curious note, when i was very little and my english was weak, i thought she's singing "smooth up the radar" and i imagined that its about the war in Vietnam and the radarmen protecting their base from the enemy air forces. I thought it was really cool that she sang it in that delicate, calm way, it seemed very original. :)
But i digress...

Rip Slyme is a Japanese Hip-Hop band that i admittedly dont know much about, but the song "Funktastic" they made is definitely some of the best Hip-Hop i heard coming from that country. Great background music and pretty well sounding lyrics. I dont know what the words mean, so i cant say anything about the meaning, but the rhymes sound elegant. Though, really, the background music makes this song for me. Very nice stuff, overall.

Another great artist that i have a lot of respect for, is Sting. He's a great guy, and he makes great music, too. :)
Some of his better known bits that i recommend, are "Brand New Day" and "Englishman In New York", though im not sure about the latter. I might like it just because i can relate to it so well, after moving to Canada. Heh...
Anyway, i would have mentioned some more of his works, including stuff he did when he was in the Police, but i honestly cant think of any specific songs. So lets continue. :)

SOAD's "Chop Suey" im sure you know, so i wont even say anything more, other than the fact that im predicting it to be the theme song of my generation...

I've also already mentioned the Verve and their "Bittersweet Symphony", but they deserve something more written about them. The song is kind of slow rock, accompanied by violin and a guy whose way of singing is not too much unlike Bob Dylan's. The song is about this one stubborn dude. :)
Its very well made. In fact, i'd dare to say that its one of the best mixes of classical music with rock that ive heard of.

Another artist i've already mentioned, is Faithless and i wanted to talk about him once more, because i neglected to mention a song of his that i really like, "God is a DJ". As always, great lyrics, good beat and amazing result that surpasses the sum of its parts.

I really dont know how many people have heard of Morcheeba, but it seems to me that the band isnt as popular as it ought to be. Skye Edwards, the vocalist, has a superb voice and the beat they serve is really good too, oftentimes aiming at the music from 60ies-70ies. Songs that more people need to hear are "Otherwise", "Be Yourself" and my personal favorite, "The Sea". Spread the word! ;)

I recently got the new Prodigy album, "Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned", but sadly it does not compete with their past work from "Music for the Jilted Generation" or "Fat of the Land". The only songs that might be worth checking out are "Spitfire" and "The Way It". Others are really not that good...
Liam got burned out quite a while ago and it seems that he didnt get back in shape yet. I really hope he finds his groove again one day.

Well, that must have been the best 3 hours ive spent in a while. :D
I just wish you were here, so we could listen to these songs while talking about them. Oh well, maybe one day. ;)

Necroposter.

Why haven't I posted in this thread before?

Death Cab for Cutie-Transatlanticism. The first time I heard Death Cab for Cutie was at an outdoor music festival, and their sound really didn't work very well outside. The second time I heard them was at a concert I went to with a friend of mine, and while I sort of liked the music, I wasn't really digging it, mostly because it was one of those shows where everyone stands around bobbing their heads and trying to look cool. But my buddy sort of forced Transatlanticism down my throat, and after a plays, I realized that it was really a great album. I don't care that much for their other stuff, but TA is excellent.

Common-Be. Does everyone know about this guy yet? Ever since a friend of mine told me he didn't know who Kanye West was I don't assume anything about people's hip-hip knowledge. Very thoughtful concious rap. Produced by Kanye.

Faraquet-The View From This Tower. Awesome rock band that does really neat stuff with rhythm. I can't just listen to one song, has to be the whole album.

Copeland-In Motion. Fun little semi-emo band. Nothing particularly profound, but the music's just really good. It's definite teenage heartbreak sort of stuff, but you never really grow out of teenage heartbreak. You just pretend you do.

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists-Tell Bageary, Balgury is Dead. Straight up rock. Sort of a modern day Paul Westergberger (Replacements) minus the "being a giant asshole" part.

Iron and Wine. Is actually just one guy: Sam Beam. Very soft folk music. It can be both the most romantic and the creepiest thing you've ever heard at the same time.

The Decemberists. Epic songs that aren't quite rock but aren't quite anything else. Most of their songs are about pirates and various nautical themes. All serious. Of course. Colin Maloy is a lyrical genius who will burn in hell for skipping my town on tour for the wilds of Montana.

Since we've got a bunch of guys who call themselves country boys here:

Whiskeytown. Best country music group ever. Faithless Street is their best album. Ryan (not Bryan) Adams' old band before he got kinda sucky.

The Old 97's. Anything. Rocking roadhouse country with extremely clever lyrics.

Splitlip Rayfield. Warning: if you don't like banjo, this is not for you. This is a group of punk rockers who realized they were from Kansas and started playing some really kick ass twangy country music.

Wilco. Alt-country legends. Non-country types really seem to like them, but I'm more affectionate of brother band Son Volt.

Bobby Bare Jr. Sort of a stripped down sound. He sounds a bit like Buddy Holly, but with very indy lyrics.

Incidentally while I like Bitter Sweet Symphony, I think "The Drugs Don't Work" is it's superior, it's about the lead singer's dad, who died of cancer I believe.

At this point in time. Anything, I mean anything, by Muse! They rock.

Other Fav's:

Hoobastank: Particularly; Running Away, Crawling in the Dark, Same Direction

Offspring: Staring at the Sun, Original Prankster, Million Miles Away

Mars Volta: Pretty much any of their work is just fantastic

Jethro Tull: Not sure why but; Jeremiah was a Bullfrog, Devil Came down to Georgia

David Bowie: God help me if I know the names of a single one of his songs, but I still like the music I hear by him.

Duke Ellington: Take the A-train, Just Squeeze me(but don't tease me)

Charlie Parker: Birdland

Count Basie: Anything on the Live at The Sands track

Stanley Turrentine: Sunny, What the World Needs Now

Lincoln Park: I think they are seriously underrated. Just about everything by them I'll listen to. It always amazes me how he can manage to scream like that and then sing so well.

I forget his name but the Japanese man that did the music for Cowboy Bebop is utterly fantastic. I'll try to find his name. My two favorites by him are Tank(opening theme to Cowboy Bebop) and Rush.

For More Classical:

Beethoven: Moonlight Sonata, 5th, 7th, and 9th movements

I'll never be able to spell it without seeing it: Man who composed the Nutcracker suites and Rise of the Phoenix(or firebird, forgot which one).

Someone who knows, and even enjoys similar music that I do? Thats a suprise to me, I can never talk to people in my area about any bands or singers i enjoy since they have never heard of them. At the same time, I can't talk about what they listen to since I never listen to the radio or watch VH1 or MTV now.

I have more music which I enjoy, some of which can be somewhat strange, just a warning. I will try to give a poorly written desciption of each. ;)
Death From Above 1979 - Two piece from Canada, quite loud for only a basist and drummer.

Editors - New "mod rock" out of England. Similar to interpol with the dark lyrics.

VHS of Beta - Heavy influence from 80s new wave.

White Rose Movement - Another group which was very influenced by new wave music from the 80s. It might be hard to find their music unless you have iTunes.

Sons and Daughters - This band is my personal favorite, a big thanks to Got for telling me about them on a similar music topic on the old forum. The best way to describe them is think of Johnny Cash while he was still hard.

Belle and Sebastian - I can't really think of how to describe this band, since their music has covered so many styles. They have a talent with writing lyrics, if you can purchase "Push barman to open old wounds" as it contains some of their best songs

Electrelane - One of the strangest bands I know of, it is fairly hard to describe them. They have songs in three languages, and have a very unique sound to their music.

I will come back later and suggest some more music, I have a lot more where this came from.

So i was going through my box with empty CDs today (to find a 700mb one), and i stumbled upon this unmarked recorded audio CD. I decided to check it out, and it completely blew me away. I recognized that it's Jan Garbarek, but i didnt know which album was it. However, after a day of research, i finally found the anwser: Twelve Moons.

That album could quite possibly be the best music collection ever made by a man.
It will touch your heart, carass it and soothe it, it will leave you glowing. It's that good.
I don't even know how many times did i listen through the thing, during these two days, but it left me in awe.

The specific songs that i liked the most are "Brother Wind March", "There Were Swallows", "Psalm", and "Twelve Moons", that gave the album it's name.

Seriously, music hasn't touched me like this in a while. Simply stunning work.
