This is a little something that a kind young lady (aka Alumette) graced me with tonight while I've been having a few issues dealing with friends.

Ya love em......ya hate em.... (http://www.worldofquotes.com/topic/Friends)

So...what about friends? Normally if you asked me I'd say that they're probably one of the greatest things a person can have......but if you asked me right now......well I'd say they're probably just the cause of some of the worst kind of emotions and just might not even be worth having. *shrug* Who knows.........so what's everyone else's take on friends/friendship/etc?

EDIT: And feel free to add/quote your favorite thoughts about friendship.

I think this is the link you want. Damned smilies in the chat window!

Friendship (http://www.worldofquotes.com/topic/Friends-_-Friendship/1/index.html)

To answer your question though, no man is an island. Friends are as essential to us as air and water and food. Friends are the family you can choose. But no friendship is perfect, and every friendship requires work.

To quote Voltaire, "We must cultivate our garden."

Don't confuse the sweat of working at a friendship, or the snag of misunderstanding, as a definition of failure for the friendship. Any friendship will be worth the pain if both parties choose to make it so.

The willingness to make it work and to have faith in the other person is what makes a friendship, not the absence of problems.

Growth is messy. But out of the mess comes immense beauty. Don't lose your vision of the flower in the seed.

Frosty.. I'm not sure what's got you down m'man, but I personally do hope you work things out. Friends are the greatest thing since sliced bread, but even sliced bread has a bit of mold here and there sometimes. Hope it all works out for the best, Frosty. You're a good guy.

I have no idea what the reason is...
But friendship is a difficult word for me. Most Persons are handling the word "friend" a bit too easy. I dont call everybody a friend just because I like him or know him. Friendship needs time, and experience. And even then you wont be able to realize if someone is a true friend or not, or the one you would have never considered you friend is the only true friend you have...

And the other problem is that people are changing with every day, every thing they go through...

My motto about friendship is: better an honest asshole than an dishonest friend.

And thats why we love fate, he was always a honest asshole, and a good pal.:)

Mm.. Rick, you damn asshole. :chuckle: (Just for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, I wasn't insulting Tarkey here, just quoting him because it pertains to my comment. :p )

My view on friendship is a combination of the "Better an honest asshole than a dishonest friend." with "The proper office of a friend is to side with you when you are wrong. Nearly anybody will side with you when you are right."

I want my friends to show support, almost no matter how stupid they think it might be, but still tell me their honest opinion of it. Friends are great, but I'm of the belief that you don't actually need another person to make you feel better, they're there to increase the happiness of it, but they are not essential. But while they aren't essential they are very nice to have around, so everyone has anyway.

I just wanted to say I started this game because of a good friend. I continue this game because of the friends I have made here, such as Frost Sampson and many more.

A friend is simply a person that you care about. Whether or not they care about you.

The Telephone
by: Robert Frost

"When I was just as far as I could walk
From here today,
There was an hour
All still
When leaning with my head against a flower
I heard you talk.
Don't say I didn't, for I heard you say--
You spoke from that flower on the windowsill--
Do you remember what it was you said?"

"First tell me what it was you thought you heard."

"Having found the flower and driven a bee away,
I leaned my head,
And holding by the stalk,
I listened and I thought I caught the word--
What was it? Did you call me by my name?
Or did you say--
Someone said 'Come'--I heard it as I bowed."

"I may have thought as much, but not aloud."

"Well, so I came."

This poem is what a true friend will do. Be in tune to your needs and come with out you actually calling.

Aye. Bree has many times, come to my aid without me asking. And even if she doesn't know it already, I appreciate that so much.

... This entire conversation has sprouted floppy ears and hopped off on its own bunny trail...

though lately, it seems more like falling down a rabbit hole... >_<
