...I'm bout to kill the damn thing. o_O;

It's only a year old, and it's acting up. I think something internally is eating away at my memory. When I type anything, the computer will freeze up, and then speed post the keys that I hit. I cannot open programs as fast as I use to, and when I toggle back and forth between other programs and CoH it won't reload back up, and I'll have to manually close it and restart the application to get back into game. Flash, Lightwave, Photoshop, etc. are all abnormally slow at rendering and transferring data.

I was thinking about just wiping the hard drive clean and reinstalling everything, but then I'd lose my bootlegged programs (I was an idiot and deleted my Macromedia Flash install files). So what's the deal? Anyone an expert at these things? I just checked the drive and there is still a ton of memory, so it's not like I'm runnin' low. I have no clue what the deal is, and I just cleaned the inside of the tower a week ago.

Do you have Norton? That's a big system hog. Try downloading spybot search & destroy to see if you have any spyware running in the background.

I would check for spyware first as Kinetix has suggested. To see what is eating at your memory, hit ctrl-alt-delete to run the Windows Task Manager. Look under the Processes tab. Look under the CPU column to see if something is constantly running and eating up your CPU. If it is, you can try to end the process, but you will have to find where it is coming from, so you can kill it for good.

check your startup list (run: msconfig)
most programs when they install will put something up on your startup menu, most of those you don't need every time you boot.

if you don't know what a starup process is in that screen, google the name of it, theres a database somewhere

Do you defrag your HDD regularly? A fragmented HDD can cause loads of slowdown.

I check for spyware everyday, so I don't think that's it. I haven't tried the start up thing, nor have I did the defrag HDD thing. I have no clue what that is. That might be it.
