Compensation for what? There's no guarantee listed anywhere that the servers will be up all the time. You agree to an as-is basis everytime you agree to the EULA, so don't expect anything in the form of compensation...probably ever.

It's an inconvienience. To everyone. And what's even more upsetting is when you go to Support for help and all they can tell you is, "Please try again." An apology would be a nice compensation for such a crappy server.

Now, if it was down for an entire day or for an extremely long period of time I'm sure they'd throw people a bone with some free time, but if it just crashes and is down an hour or whatever, they're not going to compensate anyone for that.

No mess, and like I said, if the server was down for awhile, then I'm confident enough to say they probably would compensate us somehow. If it's down for less than an hour, there's absolutely no need to even consider compensation.

I know the game has issues, but do you still login and have fun while you play? If yes, then isn't that all that really matters? Yes, they can add more costume options, powersets, chest emblems, etc., but do any of those REALLY keep you from having fun when you login?

I'm well aware that I'm more optimistic about the game that I probably should be, but really, the game isn't as bad as some make it seem.

At least when we get server maintenence it doesn't come back up needing more maintenence than when it went down. Then goes back down for more maintenence and comes back on even worse, repeating about 3 or so times before they take the server offline for a day to actually fix it.....

but you gotta remember the WoW servers....were down for a LONG time and some servers down for a VERy long time. And would happen day after day. SO yea they needed to do something to keep people from flooding away in droves....so free days abounded.

CoH is almost never down when i want to play it. Can count the # of times on one hand. Thats in over a year of playing. So CoH is Incrediably stable.

Seriously, server stability was one of my big concerns on joining an MMO (this is my first MMORPG). You hear a lot of horror stories about the other MMOs. But with its daily maintenance time, the COH servers have seemed remarkably stable over the time I've been playing on them. We all grumble when we want to play and can't...but those times are really few and far between for me.

I hopped onto the coh.com boards yesterday to see if the looping sound crash was going to be fixed anytime soon and they said there was a fix for it but it wouldn't be put in place until Tuesday. So this must be the fix. YAY!!!! :)

Never had the looping sound problem. I DID have the "escort mission goes to hell" problem. I'd be solo.. get an escort mission... everything goes great until the rescue is made and then... BAMMO! The worst lag I have ever seen in game(worse than the 300 plus gathering at the Talos tram for the start of the I2 Rulaaru event)

Supposedly the fix has been made along with the sound loop problem... hope this is it.

Sech and I can't connect to the game. We get as far as the server menu, but when we choose Virtue, it times out and gives us the "can'T connect to db server" thing. I can connect to Pinnacle (and prolly all East coast servers) though.

The damn thing hit me with mapserver loss SEVEN times during a mission. I had a really good team too and all of us were having problems, then we went to go to Kings Row for a new mission and insted of loading, the game shut down.

Now it tried to update with the 6th issue and it tried to connect 8 times before I quit out. It's like all the problems with CoV followed me.

either they are under attack DOS or they have suffered massive system failure
since there are 4-5 login servers, as well as redundant DS3 connections to a pair of cisco 7600VXR routers they use BGP to the two main ISP's, that doesnt seem down, so its looking like massive system failure.

this is pure bs spin on thier part,

I have 5 ISP's i use from different areas,

Roadrunner Cable modem
Bellsouth.net DSL
USLEC - T-1
ITC Deltacom DSL
Savvis dedicated T-1

with different DNS servers all of them are encountering the same message LOGIN SERVERS ARE DOWN.

thats not a GEOGRAPHICAL issue thats a CRYPTIC ISSUE. :grr:

I can do BGP traces on the routes used by the IP addresses of the servers, and I do visual route to see where things are stopping and they are stopping at the customer gateway to ncsoft in Texas as well as one in California, so its getting to them and dying.

last night was hell...once i got the initial crash, it said virtue was back up. I went back on, got kciked out 5 seconds later, weent to justice...got kicked out again, so i went to pinnacle. Got kicked out once again, decided to turn off the game, checked some websites, got back on the game, every server was up, got onto justice, made a new character, as soon as i loaded the outbreak map, i got so much lag that it took me 30 minutes to get from my spawn point, to wincott, to the quit button, to finally being able to quit the game.

Then when we get out after like 5 minutes of see what we are gona do, this girl on my team/SG suddenly gets genericheroed! I don't see why, her name was States-Girl, I doubt thats a real Copyright against Statesman. I'm hoping its just a bug

it's probly a real generichero...I've heard of names that had nothing to do with anything and get genericheroed...one time, A friend of mine got genericheroed, because his name was like a hero's name in a small comic book which had it's first publish a week after my friend created his character...

Well this is odd. Usualy my ISP has problems with CoH. Nearly everybody that has my ISP (Optimum Online) has had problems in the past. We call up Cryptic, they say it's OO's problem, we call up OO they say your the only person with the problem and it's the game's fault. :grr:

I was able to log into Virtue and run around Sirens. Hopefully you'll be able to get in soon. Sucks when you have a day off and all you wanna do is chill out you can't. :(

What you should be seeing is the "Applying" process at 2.2 GB, which is the total size of the client. The patch was probably 12k and downloaded so fast it jumped right to the application process.
