Okay, here is one, although there is more connected to this than the starting point; in other words, it is not just about this much talked about subject.

Well, let's point out the subject: The much ballyhoo-hooed PS3 vs. XBOX 360 arguement.

According to my great history and knowledge about the game industry, the PS3 does look to be ready to take off, drowning all the minority of folks who complained ALOT to sound big. Of course, the key-point that gave most of these folks grist for their mills was PS3's high price point. And it still is giving many folks a run for their money.

However, nowadays, I hear more and more people posting and saying something along the lines of they are saving up their money to buy a PS3 in the future.

Mind you, it has been a long hard road for PS3 and it continues to be so, people for one reason or another feel betrayed by Sony, which is kinda amazing to me, because Microsoft has historically also been a pain in the neither regions on many things.

But it is funny, people either tend to line up on one side of the arguement or another. They never settle for a middle case scenario: It is either cats over dogs or vice versa; No one can love both CATS and DOGS: it'd be too boring and make too much sense. To this, I say, "NUTS to you!" (I will add I own both a 360 and a PS3...and more systems than you probably ever owned. I've stated this somewhere on these boards, probably Apr. 07).

Okay, admitedlly this is sounding like a pro-PS3 post, and it is, but many guys give you no choice. There are SO MANY folks who love and adore the 360 and make sacrifices to it every odd day plus holidays. PS3 owners got an earfull of how the PS3 overheats. How there aren't many games for it. How the hardware was worse than that of the 360. Well, we are now getting the opposite info. Univeristies using Ps3's connected because of their ease of customizing (A department in Rice University does this as do some others).

It's just funny that no one sees the other side and pretty much excuses Microsoft for dubious practices. They are quick to lambbaste Sony. Heck, many XBoxes have overheated; it's been the ONLY system I have bought over the years to actually break on me out of the box in short order. No other system has done this to me. It seems the problem was so widespread Microsoft extended warranties. People still are patting Microsoft on the back for doing this, but what if Sony was in Microsoft's position and had there PS3's fry, would people applaud them as well if they extended their warranty? Probably not.

Microsoft has even put out an elite system. Okay, maybe I hear some drooling, but how is this different or better? If one has a 360 already, wouldn't buying an elite system cost one MORE money? Sure, you can answer back that you trade in your first 360 unit for the elite one, but I believe even then the total cost of this switheroo still costs about as much as a brand new top-o-the-line PS3.

Anyway, there are more things I could point out. About all the exclusives coming to PS3 and their new Gamer network which I had been hoping for a long time since similiar experiments years ago (sure, a bit like Second Life, but not as much...smut).

And here is where I choose to break somewhat off topic, but related to topic in a weird sorta epiphaniatic way (Is that even a proper use of "epiphany"?)

It is that most folks don't fairly view both sides of a story or problem in general, and I am getting sick and tired of it.

This goes with religion, politics, pets, schools, country ideoligies, etc. etc.

Muslims , all of them, are bad. But not christians? No one cares to go deeper and see there are good and bad in both religions; not all Muslims are terrorists. Heck, some make superhero comics! Not all christians,(Protestants, Baptists, et al) are pure and innocent either.

What one country does, does not make it better than the other. What is done, is somethimes wrong, even if one chooses to fool themselves by saying history will prove them right.

You know, one of the best pieces of advice I try and follow is try to ask an opinion of a non-involved 3rd party if I am too involved in something. SOmetimes, things can be seen from this perspective that eludes those involved. Unfortunately, in a lot of the political mindfields of the world's nations, this is rarely done or, even if offered, the advice is rarely heeded.

It just seems so "fashionable" now to take one side of an arguement and go for your opponent's jugular (either verbally or physically). No one ever stops and thinks, they just act instintively. Is this what seperates "civilized man" from the animal kingdom? Heck, unless you scream and cry and put on a show, most people think you are guilty because their first impression of you may be unemotional, so the other person cry and screaming *must* be right.

Phooey!

When you try to have a coversation, with the intent of changing minds or just having them see/appreciate your own view, many people just stick to their view without thinking things out or stepping into the other person's shoes. And many times, even if there ARE examples in history, no one pays no heed, it is always "shoot from the hip" opinions. Call the other a namby. This can be so bad, that one side may not realize they are almost the same as the other side, yet they attempt to yell out their differences. Democrats and Republicans in america are an example. There are some differences, but the way they operate behind the scenes is pretty much the same; one is not necessarily more morally correct than the other.

Anyway, that is my rant for now.

Now I just have to remember to write down another idea I have for a possible TV series or comic book or comic idea for a show before I totally forget it.

I think this is the perfect time for the tides to turn back in Sony's favor, they had an excellent showing at E3, the price cut, albeit a temporary one while they sell off the remainder of the 60gb units is nice (and likely by the time they're done selling off said units the 80gb will be lowered to the same price), and Microsoft is seemingly in turmoil -- the red rings of death have been reported in up to 1/3 of every 360 unit out there which is a TREMENDOUS FAILURE in the consumer electronics world, and Peter Moore jumps ship just days after E3.

I really don't care either way I think competition is win-win for gamers, I am a PS3 owner myself, I had saved up a boatload of cash for the launch years in advance, and I'm happy with my purchase. I know people that own a Wii and 360 and we've talked about all the games for every console and things have been fine...

What I CANNOT STAND anymore is when I talk about a PS3 game that's coming out and this booming voice of this recently inducted anti-sony army comes crashing down upon me that I made the wrong decision. Like, **** you, don't respond to me about the game I'm talking about with "The PS3 sucks" or any even remotely related sentiment when there's a 99% chance you're still playing with your PS****ing2. Enjoy your games, don't tell me how superior your system is or how my system is losing all it's "exclusive" licenses, etc. I don't care, I just want to talk about the games.

People take this 360/PS3 argument far too seriously, and look who's coming out on top as a result, Nintendo, who many of us presumed to be on it's death bed as a console maker after the Game Cube.

Yeah, I agree with this. Although Sony used the "old" Nintendo trick of waiting for your competition before releasing their own system, to improve it in certain areas over your competition, Nintendo, this time, went another route.

Most gamers that talk don't realize they tend to be more "hard core" than the average consumer. So, in this, Nintendo wins, because it is friendly, accessible, and cheaper than the other systems.

Even at the beginning of video game system wars in the past, the reason to get a system was because of GAMES. Certain games do not appear on other systems. People were talking about Sony losing exclusivity but what these people FAILED to notice is that most of those early games were made by Sega! If they would just think that Sega dropped it's console in favor of churning out games for ALL systems... but no, they just argue sony lost it's touch.

Point is, you can bet your bottom dollar Sony will have it's exclusive games, as will XBOX and Wii. This is pretty much how the industry has always worked. Sure, Katamari Damacy is coming for XBOX 360, but the same developer is making a new exclusive game for PS3 called "NoriNori" because of the type of physics that only the PS3 can handle. And with the amazing things of "Little Big Planet", "Folklore" and even the "Home" community, this is only the beginning. Much like it was for XBOX a year ago, when they had a small amount of games for a few months and picked up steam.

And don't forget the bottom part of my rant, about people seeming to be single-minded. PS3 vs. XBOX is but one facet, but it outlines it well.

In the end, each system has it's virtues.

I just wish more people would be more level-headed and fair about this and not jumping into Microsoft's bandwagon, but that goes for politics, religion, et al. Sometimes, I wonder if I am the only one in the middle and feel silly when someone I am trying to reason with accuses me on being totally on the other side.

Sorta like my father and politics. He is dyed Republican. I am conservative, but I really am not a republican or a democrat. Lots of folks, not just him, love to take a side and point at someone and say (or think rather simplistically) that they are on the opposite side. Just wish more folks would equally weigh both sides of ANY issue fairly.
