Gold Rush

Okay, here is one, although there is more connected to this than the starting point; in other words, it is not just about this much talked about subject.
Well, let's point out the subject: The much ballyhoo-hooed PS3 vs. XBOX 360 arguement.
According to my great history and knowledge about the game industry, the PS3 does look to be ready to take off, drowning all the minority of folks who complained ALOT to sound big. Of course, the key-point that gave most of these folks grist for their mills was PS3's high price point. And it still is giving many folks a run for their money.
However, nowadays, I hear more and more people posting and saying something along the lines of they are saving up their money to buy a PS3 in the future.
Mind you, it has been a long hard road for PS3 and it continues to be so, people for one reason or another feel betrayed by Sony, which is kinda amazing to me, because Microsoft has historically also been a pain in the neither regions on many things.
But it is funny, people either tend to line up on one side of the arguement or another. They never settle for a middle case scenario: It is either cats over dogs or vice versa; No one can love both CATS and DOGS: it'd be too boring and make too much sense. To this, I say, "NUTS to you!" (I will add I own both a 360 and a PS3...and more systems than you probably ever owned. I've stated this somewhere on these boards, probably Apr. 07).
Okay, admitedlly this is sounding like a pro-PS3 post, and it is, but many guys give you no choice. There are SO MANY folks who love and adore the 360 and make sacrifices to it every odd day plus holidays. PS3 owners got an earfull of how the PS3 overheats. How there aren't many games for it. How the hardware was worse than that of the 360. Well, we are now getting the opposite info. Univeristies using Ps3's connected because of their ease of customizing (A department in Rice University does this as do some others).
It's just funny that no one sees the other side and pretty much excuses Microsoft for dubious practices. They are quick to lambbaste Sony. Heck, many XBoxes have overheated; it's been the ONLY system I have bought over the years to actually break on me out of the box in short order. No other system has done this to me. It seems the problem was so widespread Microsoft extended warranties. People still are patting Microsoft on the back for doing this, but what if Sony was in Microsoft's position and had there PS3's fry, would people applaud them as well if they extended their warranty? Probably not.
Microsoft has even put out an elite system. Okay, maybe I hear some drooling, but how is this different or better? If one has a 360 already, wouldn't buying an elite system cost one MORE money? Sure, you can answer back that you trade in your first 360 unit for the elite one, but I believe even then the total cost of this switheroo still costs about as much as a brand new top-o-the-line PS3.
Anyway, there are more things I could point out. About all the exclusives coming to PS3 and their new Gamer network which I had been hoping for a long time since similiar experiments years ago (sure, a bit like Second Life, but not as much...smut).
And here is where I choose to break somewhat off topic, but related to topic in a weird sorta epiphaniatic way (Is that even a proper use of "epiphany"?)
It is that most folks don't fairly view both sides of a story or problem in general, and I am getting sick and tired of it.
This goes with religion, politics, pets, schools, country ideoligies, etc. etc.
Muslims , all of them, are bad. But not christians? No one cares to go deeper and see there are good and bad in both religions; not all Muslims are terrorists. Heck, some make superhero comics! Not all christians,(Protestants, Baptists, et al) are pure and innocent either.
What one country does, does not make it better than the other. What is done, is somethimes wrong, even if one chooses to fool themselves by saying history will prove them right.
You know, one of the best pieces of advice I try and follow is try to ask an opinion of a non-involved 3rd party if I am too involved in something. SOmetimes, things can be seen from this perspective that eludes those involved. Unfortunately, in a lot of the political mindfields of the world's nations, this is rarely done or, even if offered, the advice is rarely heeded.
It just seems so "fashionable" now to take one side of an arguement and go for your opponent's jugular (either verbally or physically). No one ever stops and thinks, they just act instintively. Is this what seperates "civilized man" from the animal kingdom? Heck, unless you scream and cry and put on a show, most people think you are guilty because their first impression of you may be unemotional, so the other person cry and screaming *must* be right.
Phooey!
When you try to have a coversation, with the intent of changing minds or just having them see/appreciate your own view, many people just stick to their view without thinking things out or stepping into the other person's shoes. And many times, even if there ARE examples in history, no one pays no heed, it is always "shoot from the hip" opinions. Call the other a namby. This can be so bad, that one side may not realize they are almost the same as the other side, yet they attempt to yell out their differences. Democrats and Republicans in america are an example. There are some differences, but the way they operate behind the scenes is pretty much the same; one is not necessarily more morally correct than the other.
Anyway, that is my rant for now.
Now I just have to remember to write down another idea I have for a possible TV series or comic book or comic idea for a show before I totally forget it.
