I have to say I agree. I NEVER watched any Transformers cartoons before. When they came out I was really a little too old for them, as they really were marketed towards kids.
But I saw this last night and it was really awesome. The human scenes were well balanced with the robot scenes and for me it was just a nice action flick with a cool premise.
Had I grown up a Transformers fan, I probably would be more critical, but having no real former exposure, it was a rocking movie for me.

Here's my thing about people bashing the movie for 'not being Transformers' (in so many words), and maybe the belongs in the other Transformers movie thread, but whatever...
I watched Transformers as a kid. I rushed home everyday so I could catch it at 5 PM. I loved it. I still do. But the cartoon had the shallowest plots ever. 99% of the time it was 'Stop Decepticons from getting Energon Cubes' or 'Save squishy humans', which is fine. It had big robots transforming into cool ****, awesome toys, and Optimus Prime and that was/is entertaining.
The movie has the exact same things.
Giant robots saving squishy humans while keeping the Decepticons from Plot Device X. Optimus Prime is still awesome and has the same, equally awesome voice. The only real complaint I can see as far as them 'not being true to the cartoon' would be Megatron's transforming into a jet. But, really, Megatron turning into a gun is stupid in hindsight. 'Yeah, I have this really big arm cannon that's just as strong as what I turn into, but when I transform, someone else has to use me and we're going to be down a man. AWESOME!'
Now, I am not saying the movie does not have faults. It does. Just that particular arguement does not hold weight.

Megatron was a jet before he was a gun, if I'm remembering correctly. The gun was one of those changes the main characters sometimes went through in order to sell new toys.
They did that kind of thing in all the spinoffs, too.

when I heard they were making a transformers movie I thought it would be stupid... haven't seen it yet, but the saw the trailers and the making and it looks damn cool no matter what the plot is, which its transformers how good could it be??

No, Megatron was a gun first.
He was a gun in the original series, then Unicron turned him into a cannon (which at least made more sense) for the movie. From then on, it was the "let's make Megatron whatever we want" thing, or even "let's make Megatron any ten things we want".
That was always the one thing from the original series that I never liked. Okay, turning into a weapon was appropriate, I guess, but for one thing, he SHRANK. He wasn't even a big weapon, he was a little pistol. The biggest Decepticon has the smallest transformed form. And of course, Starscream had to be the one to wield him. Yeah, this makes sense, the only purpose of your transformed form to make your main rival for leadership of the Decepticons even stronger than he already is.
It was no wonder that Megatron just never really transformed.
Personally, the backstory of the first episode said that the Ark had "rebuilt" the Autobots so they would appear as earth vehicles, and I assumed the Decepticons had changed their transformed forms as well, so they would be disguised just as well. It always disturbed me when they had thet episode when they went back in time and revealed Optimus Prime's creation story, that after he was rebuilt he looked like the earth Optimus. I always felt he should have looked different. Before they came to Earth, they should have all looked different.
So it really doesn't bother me if they look different in the movie, because I really wasn't attached to those forms. I always figured they could look however they wanted to look, given enough time to alter their "chassis".

I only liked the toys and didn't care about the cartoons at all. I loved this movie. I would willingly pay full price to see it again.

If he was frozen in a brick of ice, how the hell could he copy a gun? He would be what ever he was on Sybertron (Or Cybertron, however the hell you spell it)
Whole thing is the toy industry is VERY picky about gun toys. The "Masterpiece" Megatron toy had to have an orange safety cap on the tip of the barrel but thankfully you could take it off so it looks cool displayed. I would own one, but not for 100 bucks.
If they do bring him back, he'll either be the same thing, a cannon or a tank or something else like the current series were he's more then one thing or an animal/dinosaur.

Megatron turned into a black, alien-looking jet. Which makes a lot of sense as he wouldn't have seen an Earth jet. He kept the same form he'd always had.
He returned to the form a couple of times, so it wasn't just once. I'm assuming he could have scanned an Earth vehicle and taken on its form if he wanted. So it's possible in future movies assuming he wasn't killed by the Allspark, of course he will take on the form of a tank or cannon or some other large weapon. (Megatron as a rail gun or some sort of big artillery weapon would be a cool form...)
