Unfortunately they're blunt, but they only cost me 80 bucks for the old one and 60 for the new one. Real, sharp katanas can cost around $400. Maybe one day... :chuckle:

And if you look closely on the last shot, you'll see I poked him in the stomach. I mean, I don't think his girlfriend would be too pleased... :o

I guess it depends on the place you go to, but I don't think they will ever be as sharp as real katanas. Besides, these aren't really meant to be used and with too many hits, the blade can turn loose.

I think I read an Anita Blake book, once. The bad guy turned out to be so old, he was a vampire Neanderthal. Pretty good read, I thought.

My favorite vampire book, though, is still "VAMPIRE$". The movie did not do it justice.

Oh, and "Kitty and the Midnight Hour", which was really a werewolf book, but it had a lot of vampire politics in it, too.

I tried rotating (with my France pictures too), and it either didn't rotate them, or it rotated them but kept the frame size the same so the image came out all squanchy. Did I do something wrong there?

As to the Emma Watson comparison....hooo boy. I'm flattered, and it reminds me of a funny story that happened to me in school two years ago:

Some students were doing some group work on their own and I was circulating around keeping them on task/helping them/whatever. These were freshmen, mostly, and one less-mature-than-his-peers senior. All really nice kids, though.

A group of boys (including the senior) were goofing off and I went over to kind of redirect them, and we had the following conversation (oh, incidentally, I joke around with my students a lot):

Me: Okay guys, come on--you only have 15 minutes to finish this up.

Kid1: (some random goofy comment to try to distract me from the fact that they're not working)

Me: (looking at my shirt) Hmmm... nope, not wearing my stupid shirt today. Guess you're still going to have to do the work I asked you to do.

SeniorKid: OMG, Madame! You look just like Hermione Grainger!

Me: uh... thanks?

Other kids: Oh man, you do! You do! Wow... etc.

And the roof is fairly low because it's a tent.

Well we could send you other types of "goodies" besides just food. What are some things that are hard to get there, that you really miss (that wouldn't get you in trouble). :) And if nothing else you can share with your brothers in arms who don't have the A/C and the Burger King. That way you're pretty much absolved of your "goodie guilt."
