Favorite part
Base features: Hospital, Great Hall, Rooms/Corridoors, Vault, Transportation (for vehicles in the future), and Library & Lab (for Skills in the future) – with all the decorative and usable objects applicable for each, including various modes of base defense (turrets, pain/sleep crystals. Etc.)
Least favorite part
Once the player villain proves his worth and becomes part of a NPC villain group, the villain group “empowers” the thug with superhuman powers.
O_o I'm sorry.. Are.. What? Are they.. Telling us where we get our powers from? Or.. Am I not getting that part?
Edit: 5/17/04 was also the date when that information was released, very outdated in my opinion, this was probably changed

That could just be a roundabout way of describing villain Origins.

Good information thread. The tidbit about the pvp areas was new to me, sounds like fun.

I hope there is room for players to choose their origin even if they can't use their powers at first. If not, I may create Silver Bolt as a hero and have him switch sides. Then again, according to his origin he was a Mob hit man prior to getting his powers, I could just start his character prior to the "origin" and have him working for Araknos instead of the Mob.

Jade just role-play it if you're a 'skill' or 'tech' you've either got a cuncussion and can't do martial arts, or you don't have access to your equipment.
As for Magic, Mutant and Science. You could have a prison chip implanted inside you that disables your powers. A chip which Lord Recluse deactivates and therefore grants you your powers.
Plenty of room for alll origins imo.

A more likely explanation is that he's not demonstrating his powers so his "boss" doesn't know he has them. Which could get him attention he doesn't want. (Being as his primary goal is not to serve Lord Recluse, but to get information on the Crime Fighters so he can steal their powers) Once he feels more confident of his place in the heirarchy, he can relax his control.
Something like explaining the "level up" system in CoH by saying that you can't do certain things (like fly) until you have the Security Level to legally use that power.
We'll have to see, though, there is a lot of speculation, and assumptions being made from offhand comments that may not mean what they are interpreted to mean. (Like that's NEVER EVER happened before...)

A new post to Clintonian's Primer made very recently.
Speaking of CoV ATs, ShadowPraxis browsed the latest issue of Computer Gaming World which just hit the stands with the CoV sneak peek article. Oh what a difference a day makes, eh?
We have confirmation on the Mastermind powersets. The primary summons minions of different types (ninja, robots, henchmen, etc based on which pool was taken - nice because it allows different themed villains to have lackeys more appropriate to their flavor instead of just generic ones). The secondary consists of buffs/enhancements/weapons upgrades for said minions.
Brutes are a bit more than just reverse scrappers. There was something mentioned about the most powerful enemies being drawn towards them and that they would mainly lock down AVs, bosses and the like. Sounds less like the normal herding duties a Tank has. They also said Brutes have a Rage ability that slowly increases their damage output the longer they're in combat - the longer they fight, the more dangerous they get.
Destroyers are confirmed to be something of a hybrid between blasters and defenders - not much new news there, just more confirmation of speculation.
No longer will there be one melee for damage and one for defense. Both melees have both like before but the brutes get overall damage boosted over time while stalkers get backstab criticals when initiating an attack from hide mode. Destroyers also not being limited to those 4 ranged powersets of Defenders which is nice. And with the Masterminds having a 'mixed' secondary set instead of just Buff-Debuff or Ranged that was thought of from seeing the Archer Mastermind, perhaps that rumour of consume being in fire blast for destroys will be true. Here's hoping!

Note: There was a post by Lord Recluse a little while ago saying that villains will have level 1 powers in a CoV version of CoH tutorial. So I wouldn't be too hard on the 'no powers' starting point as it may not even exist.
